Tsinghua University’s Tanwei College is committed to “molecular miracles for a better world.” Leveraging Tsinghua University’s robust educational and research resources in chemistry and biology, Tanwei College undertakes the mission to develop leading talents in education, technology and industry in the various fields of chemical biology.

To face the evolving demands of talent cultivation, and to promote the integration of undergraduate study and research, Tanwei College has convened teaching committees from various majors within chemical biology, along with academic department representatives and experts, to jointly reconstruct the curriculum for each major, creating a solid foundation in chemical biology and strengthening the scientific aptitude of innovative talents. Furthermore, the curriculum structure is designed to reflect the current trends and dynamics of modern industrial development. Utilizing the advantages of multidisciplinary learning, junior students are encouraged to take cross-disciplinary introductory courses to broaden their horizons. Focused, modular courses are provided to senior students to meet their personalized growth needs. Tanwei College also implements a tutor system where notable international scholars are invited to participate in the college’s education through various channels.

At Tanwei College, an emphasis is placed on cultivating international mindedness through close connections and collaborations with renowned universities around the world. This initiative, rooted in Tanwei but expanding globally, not only broadens students' international outlook but also offers a deeper understanding of China's ongoing developmental drivers. The college invites faculty from Tanwei College at Tsinghua University and relevant experts from University of Oxford to deliver academic reports on a variety of specialized topics. These include microchemical engineering, energy chemistry, batteries, carbon capture, microplastics, wastewater treatment, machine learning, deep learning, brain-machine interfaces, health monitoring robots, cell factories, as well as artificial intelligence applications in gene therapy, bispecific antibodies, and drug design, covering a broad and diverse range of subjects.
